There’s nothing worse in summer than humidity ruining your hair. Plus, when the temperature is soaring the last thing you want to be sat doing your hair. So to help you out I put together a guide of some of my favorite hair products according to the hairstyle you choose that will hold up on a hot summer day.
Loose Waves
If you have natural waves, don’t straighten them against the humidity, embrace them! Just make sure you are using a multitasking serum once you have let your hair dry naturally to ensure the shine and texture of your natural waves. I would recommend using Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil. If you don’t have naturally wavy hair, wave your hair with a curling iron and apply the multitasking serum through, making sure not to weight it down with too much product.
Messy Bun
Styling the perfect messy bun can be a real challenge and we all seem to have our own way of doing it. The easiest way is to start with dry shampoo, put your hair in a high ponytail, then tease gently from the roots to ends for volume. Wrap the teased pony loosely around the hair tie, then secure with bobby pins all around. I love using Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. It adds texture and volume into your hair, to give you fresh locks for one more day and holds your hair in place.
Smooth Low Ponytail
A low ponytail is a statement hairstyle all year around and a favored look of celebrities, but it’s also perfect to keep your hair out of your face during summer months. To achieve this look, make sure to wash your hair with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner such as Pureology Smooth Perfection Shampoo and Conditioner to fight humidity. Then, whilst your hair is wet, brush them back off your face and hold them in a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. Tie them in place. If you have finer hair, like I do, finalize with a quick spritz of hairspray so it doesn’t budge.

Fishtail Braid
Pull your hair back in a ponytail and divide them into two sections. Separate one-centimeter section of hair from the outside of the left ponytail and pull across the top of the left section to meet the right section. Then separate one-centimeter section of hair from the outside of the right section and pull this piece across the top of the right section to meet the left section. Repeat till you get to the end of your hair and secure with a hair tie. Voila, you mastered the fishtail braid! If you want to ensure your hard work doesn’t go to waste, finish off with hairspray.
